OCC Welcomes you to the World of Rug Hooking
We exist to help people express themselves through fiber art. This is the place to get hooked!
A Message From the OCC President
Let us teach you how to hook a rug…
…By pulling loops of material strips or yarn through a woven backing. Whether you follow a simple or complex pattern, it’s easy to make a rug that is both beautiful and serviceable using recycled fiber.
OCC – The Orange Coast Classics Rug Hooking Group was formed in 1996 to provide a forum where fiber artists in Southern California can create, discuss, study, educate and encourage one another while we promote the art of making traditional hand hooked rugs and other closely related art forms.
Orange Coast Classic Chapter Membership ($20 per year) provides:
- A local support/resource base of other fiber artists
- Regular OCC Hook-In meetings with social and educational interaction
- Annual Big events with other fiber artists
- Group projects
OCC is also Chapter #48 of the Association of Traditional Hooking Artists – An international Association with over 70 regional Chapters like OCC. ATHA’s membership totals nearly 4,000 fiber artists scattered all over the world.
